Freewill and Direction

Life is a funny thing. You think you have it figured out and then suddenly you realize that you have only seen half the picture. Not only that but the picture keeps changing and growing and constantly adding more detail. Not only that but then contemplate the fact that God stands outside of space and time and superintends it all for His glory and majesty. In yet the amazing thing is that He also grants us freewill and enables us to exercise it.

Imagine being given the choice to remain at a task or a job for as long as you want, would you actually want to? If it was something you loved, appreciated, and felt God was absolutely calling you to then no debate needs to happen. What if its simply the opportunity of the moment, and you have the brightest potential possible to do anything you set your mind too.

Whether you turn to the right or to the left, your ears will hear a voice behind you, saying, “This is the way; walk in it.” Isaiah 30:21 NIV

Do we listen for that still small voice from God?

The Lord said, “Go out and stand on the mountain in the presence of the Lord, for the Lord is about to pass by.” Then a great and powerful wind tore the mountains apart and shattered the rocks before the Lord, but the Lord was not in the wind. After the wind there was an earthquake, but the Lord was not in the earthquake. After the earthquake came a fire, but the Lord was not in the fire. And after the fire came a gentle whisper. 1 Kings 19:11-12 NIV

The biggest test and challenge of faith I have been dealing with as of late, is that I won’t understand, comprehend, or get all the answers to my questions in this life or probably the next. Ultimately the God of the Bible will always hold all the answers. That said movement and action must continue, I have been given a mission and life dedicated to service and worship. To avoid that mission is to reject God, and that rejection breeds a host of more pernicious elements which will cause strife and difficulty up ahead.

Are you listening to that still small voice in the back of your mind that constantly pushes you towards a deeper more dangerous relationship with the Almighty God? I want my life to mean something to people I have never met, and push them towards Jesus. How about you?
